There comes a time in my year when I’m slowly weaning off of my 2011 weddings and starting to look toward the future. It’s a sad time and a happy time all rolled up into one big ball of tears and though I’d love to keep going on the journey with them forever, I thrive on those new interactions and meeting new people while in turn, getting the chance documenting their love. The thing that can really make that transition a heck of a lot easier though is when I find the couple that just gets it. Plain and simple. They know what they’re looking for and they find my work and cling to it. They don’t shop around to a million different photographers just to get the best deal. From the get-go they completely trust me to document their day and do it in the way that only I could. They’re excited beyond belief for their journey and to have me tell their story. Jessica and Justin just GET IT. They GET ME and why I do what I do. And I have to say, I love them for that very reason. » Expand Post

2012 is looking like it’s going to be quite the amazing year. I’ve been so excited to get to share this post because Katherine and Justin are one of my awesome couples for next year and they completely rocked it. We battled droves of people at the Apple Orchard, we fought off the crowds in Downtown Grand Rapids during ArtPrize. But you know what? These two are something absolutely special. They love their city and they love each other with reckless abandon. And sometimes, that’s all it takes. » Expand Post
You know that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you just feel that something is simply good? Where it’s all that you can do but to jump up and down with excitement because of happiness you see in someone else? Jeff and Karah are just one of those couples that put a serious smile on your face the minute you’re with them. We laughed, we drove around Ann Arbor, and we just had a genuinely good time celebrating them and the amazing love that they share. I truly cannot even wait for their wedding next June, if it’s anything like their engagement session, we’re in for some great times. » Expand Post
It’s a bit ridiculous how cool of a couple Meredith + Kipp are. On the day Kipp proposed they rented a pedal boat much like the one seen in the photos below, and pedaled to the “private island” we took some of their pictures on. Turns out that “island” is actually completely connected the rest of the park and you can drive your car there and have a picnic. Either way, she said yes on the spot and we went and revisited some of those places that mean so much to them.
We laughed. A lot. And Kipp dropped a “That’s what she said.” To say I’m excited for their wedding would be an understatement. » Expand Post
I had never met Sean or Katye when they walked in to the Starbucks in downtown Chicago a couple of months ago, I had only talked to Katye for a little bit on the phone about her wedding day. Hence why we sat at two different tables wondering where the other was for about ten minutes. I’m so glad they came over and gave me a shot anyway though, because we had an incredible time chatting and laughing about the craziness that is being engaged, and how exactly they envision their big day next year. The conversation and laughter continued out into the streets and on through our shoot in the town they call home. I’m so excited that I was able to spend some time with this amazing couple and I’m even MORE excited for what is sure to be some amazing festivities at the Hard Rock Hotel next April. » Expand Post
This is such a sweet couple. I joined them for their engagement session in Downtown Detroit because this city is so dear to the two of them. Ryanne works downtown for Little Caesars which allowed us to get inside Comerica Park for some of our shoot! We shared some great times together while they shared an amazing looking chocolate covered strawberry

They’re madly in love and I got to capture it. He whispers in her ear, she giggles. She stares at him while he’s looking off into the distance, he helps her take her uncomfortable heels off. They’ve been through a ton together and have quite an amazing story which I’m hoping to share more about when their wedding post comes along. For now, enjoy just a tiny look into the life and love of Sarah and Tim.
